Tall Ships Sunderland 2018

Hi everyone,

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to visit the Tall Ships Sunderland 2018 at the St Peter's University site. The first part of the day was spent engaging in workshops. During one of the workshops we got to sketch our own design of the Tall Ships on a piece of Styrofoam which we then painted on top of before stamping it onto a piece of paper. During this activity we worked with a photography student from the university. During the second activity we created either a poster, front cover of an article or a leaflet about the Tall Ships. This was linked to the Media Hub in the university who are going to compile our ideas and create a newspaper which they will send over during the summer.

During the afternoon we were able to watch a selection of performances from other schools on the main stage; it was very exciting to see! We also spent time looking at the Tall Ships which had docked and we were lucky enough to see one coming into the port with its sails up. We visited the Maritime Museum tent where 'The Sunderland Maritime Heritage' were there with their famous model boat - the 'HMS Venerable'.

We had a fantastic day and we would recommend everyone to visit!

PS - check out the Sunderland Echo where we have a fantastic class photo displayed!

New Wear Crossing

On Tuesday 21st November we visited the New Wear Crossing. We spent time learning about a variety of things linked to the bridge, such as; the clearing of the sight, construction of the bridge, how it will effect the city, costing of the bridge and materials and future business and projects. Karen showed us images which showed clear progression from the beginning of the project to where it is now. During the visit we also got the opportunity to actually see and feel some of the main parts of the bridge (the pylon). Just before we left we were able to go up onto the viewing platform and see the bridge in all its glory. We got some wonderful pictures!

Newcastle University Workshop.

Today we had a visit from Newcastle University. We completed a variety of interactive activities which saw us making our way around the university without actually being there! We worked on a selection of group activities and found out lots of valuable information about university life and the courses on offer. Here are some photos from our wonderful day...

Our Harvest preparation.

It isn't long until our Harvest Festival (Friday 13th October) and we have been preparing for our role in this years theme #giving. Last Wednesday (27th September) we walked to the local Morrisons to donate to the food bank. Thank you for all of your support and we look forward to seeing you next Friday! Here is a sneak peek at some of our photos...
